Lübeck, Germany — Nikon SLM Solutions and Swedish advanced analytics and visualization technology company Interspectral have announced a strategic partnership to deliver an advanced, integrated quality assurance and process monitoring solution for industrial metal additive manufacturing (AM).

The collaboration connects Interspectral’s AM Explorer software with Nikon SLM Solutions’ open-architecture metal AM platforms, providing users with real-time data visualization, process insight, and AI-powered analytics — all designed to accelerate qualification, improve repeatability, and simplify certification workflows in industries such as aerospace, energy, and defense.

The partnership is rooted in Interspectral’s AM Explorer platform, proven in demanding industrial settings worldwide. Customers such as GKN Aerospace are already realizing its value in advancing towards serial production using the NXG platform through improved traceability and reduced process variability.

“We are proud to collaborate with Nikon SLM to support customers on their journey toward industrialized additive manufacturing,” said Isabelle Hachette, CEO of Interspectral. “Our shared work with GKN Aerospace is a strong proof point, showing how integrated data insights can protect and enhance some of the world’s most valuable AM production workflows.”

“AM Explorer enhances our manufacturing process by automating complex workflows and ensuring robust quality assurance,” said Martin Thordén, Vice President, GKN Aerospace, Sweden. “It supports our goal of scaling AM production while maintaining stringent aerospace industry standards.”

“Today I am proud to announce our strategic collaboration with Interspectral,” said Simon Merkt-Schippers, Executive Vice President Product Management, Nikon SLM Solutions. “Together with our partner, we are enabling and easing the transition from low-series to large-scale AM production through advanced quality assurance solutions. Our combined total AM solutions will improve operational efficiency and unlock AM at true scale — proven by pioneering end customers like GKN Aerospace.”

AM Explorer gives manufacturers a unified platform to visualize, analyze, and correlate build data from multiple sources — including machine logs, sensor data, and CT scans — for a complete digital thread from setup to final inspection. Combined with Nikon SLM Solutions’ multi-laser systems and open architecture, users can benchmark builds, identify anomalies faster, and accelerate root-cause analysis to improve yield and process reliability.

This partnership underscores a broader shift toward data-driven industrial AM, where integrated quality assurance is not a barrier but an enabler of series production.

Attendees can explore the joint solution at Formnext 2025, where Nikon SLM Solutions and Interspectral will showcase live demonstrations at Hall 11.1, Booth B38.
