BREAKING RECORDS, BUILDING ENGINES

KSP Case Study

The Karman Space Programme has redefined what’s possible in student rocketry—designing, building, and hot-firing the most powerful liquid rocket engine ever created by a UK university team. Built with a regeneratively cooled Inconel 718 thrust chamber just 0.5 mm thick and printed as a single piece on our SLM®500 system, the engine delivered an impressive 7.2 kN of thrust. Even more remarkable? It was fully reusable after qualification testing, and the entire development cycle—from concept to hot-fire—took less than a year.
